| Niitaka is a highly russeted orange-brown pear with excellent size. It is one of the larger Asian pears. The fruit is juicy and sweet and is more heavily textured than most Asian varieties. The tree is more spurry and dense growing than other pears. Fruit will keep in storage up to four months. | |
| Early spring is the best time to plant bare-root trees. Choose a site with full sun and well-drained soil. | |
